Continuing Professional Development

Upon the completion of formal training, many Plastic Surgeons work in public hospitals as Surgical Consultants. These surgeons also make themselves available to support the education of trainees.

Plastic Surgeons are also required to undertake lifelong learning through a Continuing Professional Development Program which is administered and audited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. This program reinforces professional patient-centered conduct and keeps Consultants informed of developments in the surgical sciences. Some surgeons also maintain an interest in scientific research, publish, and lecture widely both in Australia and internationally.
